Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy involves a collaborative process between the client and therapist,
with the general goal of improving, understanding and altering behavior patterns
so that the client is more able to make choices that are truly in his or her best
interest and that balance the need for relationship with significant others with
the need for personal autonomy and integrity. Depending on the issues involved,
the client's goals and styles of coping, and the degree to which others are
involved in or affected by the problem, therapy may be conducted with an individual,
couple, family, or other unit, and may range from one or two sessions to much
longer in duration.

Psychological & Neuropsychological Assessment
Our practice brings together a wide range of expertise in child, adolescent
and adult assessment with a strong commitment to providing meaningful
and timely evaluations.
Assessment services refer primarily to standardized testing and test
interpretation, although most assessments incorporate a structured
interview and behavioral observations as well. . We provide
diagnostic personality assessments, intellectual evaluations,
assessment of attention, learning and/or adjustment difficulties,
assessment of level of substance abuse, and evaluation of changes
in behavior, thinking, and/or memory resulting
from injury or disease of the brain (neuropsychological assessment).
Results of the testing and recommendations are shared with the client
and/or family as desired.

Neuropsychological Rehabilitation
Individuals who suffer traumatic brain injuries, strokes, or other brain
disease may experience a variety of changes and difficulties in thinking
processes, memory, self-image, and/or emotional behavioral control which
require specialized counseling, behavioral management, and/or training.
Often, the impact of such injuries is as great for the family as for the
victim. Our staff of trained Neuropsychologists has the experience
and expertise to provide practical guidance and effective intervention
for assisting neurologically-impaired individuals and their families
toward optimum recovery and adjustment.

Vocational Assessment & Testing/Career Counseling
BHC has a history of involvement in career counseling with people at various points
in life. We have worked with people in different transition points in life: mid-life,
nearing retirement, and those beginning to determine their first career in life.
Our clinicians have a full knowledge of the normally used interest testing instruments.
Four things are important in considering major occupational changes: 1) a job should
be personally satisfying and deeply fulfilling; 2) a person must have or be able
to develop the required skills; 3) the job should fit the person's personality
and work style; and 4) the career should generate the desired income.
